Wow, I haven't posted in a while.

I remember starting this blog, literally posting once or twice last year because I actually had to (Thanks, PDP.) Now it's a bit like a diary. An electronic, completely non secret diary that anyone in the entire world could possibly read.
Maybe I haven't posted because my life is incredibly boring right now. Now that uni's over for summer all I do is work and sit here and watch films, and sometimes think about my 3rd year majors.

Working more makes me realise how happy I am that I did go to uni and hopefully therefore will have a job I enjoy, rather than tidying rails obsessively and trying to force people to take out store cards. (I've managed to get three accounts in the past week, suck on that Manager.)

On a related note: The writer I was introduced to ( www.kevinwignall.com ) has emailed back and we have spoken a bit, with him offering to help me sort out a work placement next year (Thank fuck.) and just offer his words of wisdom, I guess, which is very cool of him.
I will remember this in the future, and 'pay it forward' at some point.

Since talking with Kevin I've also been writing again, and not screenplays. Part of me always feels a little silly when I actually sit down to write, but when I get into it, nothing can stop me for hours on end.

It's a great release, I don't understand why more people don't do it.

I am currently watching (as and when I feel like it):

"The Final Furlong"

Well, second year is FINALLY over.
I am 100% stoked about this, even though in a few weeks I know I will probably say completely the opposite, but I am very much looking forward to summer.
I feel odd, slightly empty now that I technically don't have anything to do with myself. I could always start next years work..?
This year has been so tough, in so many ways. I think my epic first year probably didn't help, easily putting this year to shame.

Wins:
  • First 1:1 for a script
  • 1 amazing new best friend
  • a very fun household
  • losing one annoying, false friend
  • A reviewed and generally better mix of housemates for the last month of our tenancy.
Fails:
  • lack of placement
  • losing another friend who I did love.
  • general stress
  • other shit marks at uni, for useless essays.
I am, however, looking forward to third year. The chance to finally pour my all into a feature length script is so appealing, something I've been looking forward to and working towards for years now.
I've also managed to get hold of the email address belonging to a published writer, through my dad (this guy has even had his books made into films) and so am looking forward to picking his brains about anything and everything... if he chooses to even write back to a lowly student.
I probably wouldn't if I were him.

Saturday

Want to know something funny about Rockband (the game)?

When someone in the same house as you is playing the 'drums' downstairs and you are upstairs, you can't hear the music but you can hear the really piercing noise of very real, wooden drumsticks on very fake, plastic drums.

I have realised that I have watched, quite possibly, a phenomenal number of films in the last week. (I'm not saying anything about quality, purely quantity.)

(although obviously Kill Bill is fucking AWESOME.)

I had lunch with my ex today. It was odd, but nice.

I'm rather glad I'm not at summerball, especially with the EPIC STORM that has just arrived, seemingly over my house! I don't think I've actually ever heard thunder so loud.
It reminds me of the random bookending in The Curious Case of Benjamin Button; that old guy who tells the stories of getting struck by lightning 8 times or something...and was it me missing it, or did you never actually find out the last one?

Talking of films still, my list of those I still have to watch:
  • Me, You and Everyone We Know
  • The Woodsman
  • Sunshine
  • Slumdog Millionaire (n.b. - now seen.)
  • Yes Man
  • Somer's Town
  • Pathology
  • Captivity
  • Bobby
  • Martyrs
  • The Shawshank Redemption (I know, I know...)
  • Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrells
And those I am looking forward to:
  • New Moon
  • Transformers 2
  • The Time Traveller's Wife
  • The Lovely Bones
These lists probably deserve their own post. Or Blog? Hmmm.
I should probably go to bed, as I have work tomorrow. If I don't go soon, I'll have...er...less than 9 hours sleep!

70%

I got my first ever 1:1 at uni today, for my one hour script 'Alex'.
Can you tell I'm a little bit proud of myself?

This plus the fact that I had a nice day with my friend Joe means that I am in a very good mood presently.

(if you look closely at the picture, the little scribble next to the percentage - I think it says 69%. We leads me to believe the thought must have gone something like: "Oh, go on then, let's let her have a first for a change." )

What...

...a boring day.
Well, I mean boring in the sense I've got nothing to tell you, as I did nothing but lie in the garden for a few hours (workin' on my tannage buuuuuuuddy) and then watched John Tucker Must Die (the shame.) with chris this afternoon.

As well as spoke to my good friend Emabo (Amber) on Skype.
As I have nothing to say, here are a few Sophie/Amber based facts.

  • 1) We have known each other since about Year 1/2, and have been best friends since year 4 (that's 14 years, fact fans.)
  • 2) We fell out once, cos she told everyone I had nits. So I stole her only friend. I am a vengeful person :]
  • 3) We both embarked on a secret war against our Year 7 teacher Ms. Wake, because she tried to split us up all the time and was basically a bitch.
  • 4) I sneezed in Amber's face once, I don't think she's ever properly forgiven me.
  • 5) I also threw a torch at her head. Don't ask. Sometimes I wonder why she's still my friend!
  • 6) Amber is almost a year older than me, but I am the bossy dominant one.
  • 7) Amber is the only girl I fully trust.
  • 8) Amber had a twisted spine and had to have a major operation, I've never told her but I cried myself to sleep for a few days when she was in hospital.

I love you emabo :]

Wow, this blog took a really cheesy turn, didn't it?
